My husband and I received our first foster child August 13, 2013. He was 7 weeks old. I fell I love with him the first moment I saw him. We hope to adopt if if reunification with his birth family is not possible, but it is a long and drawn out process for the courts to reach a decision. Sometime we become frustrated and sad knowing that the child we are raising and creating a bond with may go away forever.
When my mom came to visit for my birthday she gave me an Answered Prayer Cross that said “giggle” on it. I hung it in my foster son’s room, and whenever I look at it I am reminded to laugh and be glad for each day I get to spend with him.
